AICE media studies: Music Video Intro Blog

The person I chose to work with is another student in this class, Joseph Gonzalez. He also takes media studies and I've known him for a long time. In fact we went through all of elementary school and middle school as more or less best friends. We had a mini falling out near the end of last year and the beginning for this year. But I don't put that on him, especially because of all this that's going on. Anyway everything between us is fine. And even if it was not, I'd still trust his ability to work hard on anything he does. So it only makes sense that we partner up together and do this because I can trust him to do his part well and efficiently. As for the music video, the song we both agreed with was Riptide by Vance Joy. To be completely honest, I like this song but my partner was OBSESSED with it for many months. He doesn't play it around our friends as much anymore but it was a widely liked song and he suggested it. Plus I had no other options to provide anyways. Along with that, although it sounds silly, this song holds a special place in both of our hearts. Our school had middle school and elementary mixed in so after almost 9 years in the same school things will get emotional when you leave. And of course at our little graduation from 8th grade ceremony there was a huge party. The song doesn't even correlate at all  to leaving a place but rather about a falling out with someone that you love. Either way, it played and made everyone cry, so I can only imagine why Joseph chose the song. The feelings we felt when we left are attached to the song and it makes both of us reminisce on our younger selves and friendships. Here is the album cover art where the song is featured. It's called God Loves You When You're Dancing. Although there's an entire album, this one song is his most popular. And well deserved to be frank, it has a great melody and flow to it.
